I wanted to let you know that Chico, our “foster failure” chihuahua, whom we adopted from the Richardson Humane Society in April 2001, crossed the Rainbow Bridge today with the compassionate help of our vet. He was probably at least 16-18 years old and in the end stages of kidney failure.
He came to us in 2001 with a broken tail and behavior issues that strongly suggested he had been abused in his prior life. He lived his whole life with us as the only male dog in the house, surrounded and often overshadowed by the female dogs in our pack. Nonetheless, he was an important part of our family for over 13 years. We will miss him.
