It is around this time of year that we try to be especially thankful, especially grateful. And today, just a few days before Thanksgiving, I’m especially grateful for our wonderful community of fosters and volunteers, and the adoption of one little brown pittie named Dexter Wilde.
Dexter came to us from the Lancaster Shelter back in August when they put out an urgent plea for rescue. The details read that “he was apparently in the back of the truck, chained, with a man making comments about him – treating him like throwaway trash.” We sent out the plea to our community of volunteers and the Velasquez’, former fosters and adopters of one of the “Halloween puppies”, offered to bring him into their home. This past Sunday he went to his forever home.
There was some debate on what his name would be; his new mom favored “Meatball” but his dad absolutely refuses to name a pet after food. 🙂 So Dexter he will stay!
If you would like to be part of the wonderful experience of fostering, please contact Cindy Chadwick – she will be more than happy to bring one of the many less fortunate dogs who have no home, into yours.
Wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving.
