Today we had a special adoption. I say it’s special not because it’s my foster (although, let’s be honest, it may play a tiny role) but because she had very special needs that caused us to worry she may not find her forever home, or at least not for a very long time. You see, Dolly has CKF, Chronic Kidney Failure, which means just 25% of her kidneys are functioning, she’ll always need special food, always need frequent blood work, and likely have a shortened life. Despite these challenges, today she went to her forever home with a wonderful couple who will give her a wonderful life with oodles of love.
Thank you Dana Huffman for saving this sweet girl, and RHS for giving her the care she needs until she found her forever home. For those of you who don’t know this, the fee to adopt our dogs is $175, but the average care of our dogs can run 4x that rate. Without donations from you and our community, we would be not be able to do what we do, and Dolly would not be, at this very moment, getting oodles of love from her new Mom.
Thanks for all you do,
Jenny
