Gustav was fostered by Pooch Hotel, then by Martha Denton, then by Pat Rotundo, and then by his adoptive family, Lisa and Richard (THANK YOU TO VOLUNTEER NAOMY JONES FOR INTRODUCING HER FRIENDS, LISA AND RICHARD TO GUS). Gus is a very special little boy. Besides being smart, affectionate, and obedient, he just seems GRATEFUL. Grateful to have been saved, grateful to be groomed and get all that matted hair out of his eyes, grateful to finally have the care he needs. Diagnosed with chronic dry eye, Gus will need his eyes washed with saline solution and have drops put in both eyes several times a day, probably for life. The first couple of times we treated him, he resisted a bit, but from that point on, he stood perfectly still, tilted his chin up, and OFFERED you his eyes to treat. He follows each treatment with wags of his stubby little tail and often leans into you … maybe a thank you? His new dad carries cotton balls soaked in saline solution everyplace they go to be sure Gus is comfortable. Thanks to everyone who helped Gus along the way!
